What began as a dumb joke turned into a series of Cowptain Amoorica, Iron Ham, The Incredible Cluck, The Cluckbuster, Bla-aaaack Widow, SpiderLamb, and Yolki.
Late Night Thinking
An exercise in composing an illustration for animation. The goal was to build a scene that could create dynamic parallax effects with distinct foreground, middleground, and background elements.
A personal project I began with my wife, we came up with a series of designs to make heirloom stuffed animals.
This design was developed as a mascot and virtual assistant for a (as of yet unreleased) Wordpress plug-in. Heavily influenced by WW1-era fighter pilots and the Rocketeer, the aim was to give the mascot a timeless sense of adventure.
We landed on two main poses for the character, as well as a logo mark to be used in marketing and advertising.
Red Red Red
I began working on this piece shortly after my first son was born, inspired by the many picture books we read to him - books on colors, trucks, and first words. It began with the simple idea of a cardinal driving a fire engine and evolved as I worked, building and adding on almost like legos until the illustration felt "full".
